Re: What should I read first?

Hi there, I just signed up at this site this week.

Sorry for being lazy, but I just thought I'd ask if anyone could point me to any especially good posts that I should take a look at first, so I can get involved here?

Thanks very much, Mike

Re: What should I read first?

Hi Mike,

Thanks a lot for the interest. Since vi/vim editing is well known and there are many other more general communities, this forums has mostly been a venue where to discuss support issues with ViEmu, feature requests/suggestions, and specific details of ViEmu.

There is, though, some reading I would definitely recommend:

http://www.viemu.com/a_vi_vim_graphical_cheat_sheet_tutorial.html [This is a graphical vi/vim cheat sheet I prepared last year]
http://blog.ngedit.com/2005/06/03/the-vi-input-model/ [Why I got started using vi/vim editing]
http://jmcpherson.org/editing.html [Efficient editing with vim, a very interesting article by Jonathan McPherson on the "proper" use of the vi/vim model]

I also plan to prepare an article presenting the vi/vim model to non-vi(m)ers, as soon as I can finish and release ViEmu for Word and Outlook (I'm right now struggling with Outlook 2007 compatibility, which is a bit of a special case in the Word/Outlook family).

Best regards,

  Jon
